Hobby Farm for the bus buddies

So when your children are in a Special Education Program here in this district they get to ride a bus. The bus comes to pick them up right at the house. It is very nice.

Anyway the kids that all ride Brother's bus together get to be buddies over the course of the school year.

This year the bus driver and the bus aid wanted to have a get together for all the kids on the bus because a lot of them will be going to different schools next school year.

I was a little hesitant to go but, boy am I glad we did. I went with my friend and her child that also rode the bus with Brother. It was so awesome. It was the bus aid's farm and it had quite a collection of different animals.

There were bunnies, cows, emus, pigs, turkeys, guinea pigs, chickens, goats, horses, and ducks. It was amazing and Brother had a total blast.
He loved feeding the calves--I told him that is what I did as a kid growing up on the dairy farm.He couldn't believe it--no really, he couldn't...

He wanted me to hold the bunny because he liked it but didn't really want to touch it.

He was so happy he couldn't stop giggling!

Brother got some chicken feathers and was so excited when he found "Rain" (the paint horse from the movie, Spirit.

Her real name was Daisy and she adored Brother... she even let him put the feather in her mane like an "Indian horse" and gave him kisses!! Made his whole day!!

Persimmon

What is a persimmon?

I always heard the word, but never really knew what it was.

My brother, Daniel likes to try new foods. One day he brought some weird fruit to our house and said it was good and we should try it. "What is it?" I asked. "I don't know, but it's good."

Well, Daniel this is a persimmon:

Why do I know this?

Well, because, persimmon is what Sister calls this:

Ya, for some reason she can't say surburban. So it is persimmon. Ah, the joy of speech!

I had to look up what persimmon was on the internet so that I could see what in the world it was before I posted about it!

There is some similarity, though. The running lights seem to be a tint of persimmon...

Here is a Persimmon Suburban:

Bwa haa ha! you thought I meant color didn't you... that's just funny!

Badge of Honor

So when I was first married I heard a lady talking about the spit-up that had become dried and crusted on her shoulder. She called it "The Mother's Badge of Honor."

I'll never forget that. I thought it was so funny. All of us mom's have been there. We get spit-up on at the most inopportune moments... usually when we run into the cute guy from high school that we used to have a crush on, or something like that.

Well, I have had my fair share. But, there was one "badge" the other day that really made me laugh.

It had been a rough night with Sister up a lot and Baby up a lot. I got up early to work out with my hubby and then I had a bunch of laundry to get caught up on. Anyway, my shower got a little delayed, but it was finally accomplished. Ah. I am clean, shiny, still a bit wet. I figure I will just let my hair air dry because I need to nurse the baby anyway.

So I nurse her and she seems especially hungry today. When she is done I put her up on my shoulder and burp her. She is happy as can be and even gives me a big grin.

Then

BAM!

Spit-up from my eyebrows to my toes!

Wholey tomales! Are you serious!

I was bound and determined not to have to wash my hair again so I just washed and rinsed the part that got puked on.

As Baby is happily playing in her little bouncer I decide I should blow dry my hair so that I can look good and ready for my hubby when he gets home.

So, I turn on the blow dryer.

What is that smell?

It smells like baby puke...

It smells like hot baby puke... and I don't me "hot" in a good way.

Ew!

I must have missed a spot.

Oh, well. I don't care. I am ready now. So I will wear my Mother's Badge of Honor proudly—hidden away in my ponytail.

Poor guy.

My husband comes home and gives me a hug and is probably wondering what perfume I found at the dollar store that day...

Cold Summer Pool and a Fire

Our friends behind us invited us and some other families over for a hot dog roast and some fun in the water. It was a bit cold... but, hey, whatever blows your hair back!

I love Sister's face in this picture!

Brother wanted to lean back in the reclining camp chair but, it didn't work so well for him...

Hair Winner!

Remember when I said I would choose a winner to have her hair done? Well, I am finally posting the picture of the hair-style I did on the winner. I had so much fun doing this little girl's hair. I didn't get a very good picture of it. It acutually wound around her head twice and then laid over the top in a long braid. After doing her thick, black, long, shiny hair I had to do her little sister's.

Then, since this is a hair post I thought I would post a girl's hair I did for the local junior miss pageant for our city. I did pin curls instead of iron or curlers... just because.

Sitting Up

So Baby is sitting up at 7 months... well, kinda. She needs a little help and she only sits by herself for a few seconds. But, I got a picture of her first time sitting up. It was when her OT came from Kids Who Count along with her toy lending specialist. I love these guys! Early Intervention programs rock!
Here is her OT (Occupational Therapis) working with her to get her stabilized to sit up on her own.
Those overalls that Baby is wearing are old school—GUESS Jeans. Isn't that funny. I guess that's what happens when you dress your kids in hand-me-downs. Still so cute!

Not too sure here.

 A little help

I think this is her getting ready to sneeze. But, look she is sitting up on her own!

Yay!!!!!

Baby is now 7 1/2months and a little behind now, but nothing too worrisome. I am not stressing yet. At least I am trying not to. These pictures were taken last week and she is still working on sitting on her own so I am glad I got these pics.

She is doing better eating her solid foods and does really well with graham crackers.
She can still roll over from her tummy to her back
Still can't roll over on her own from back to stomach
She is switching hands to hold toys
She can bare weight on her legs and loves to be helped to stand
She LOVES her feet and sucks on her big toe whenever her feet are bare!

So cute!!
