Oh, man, my kids just make me laugh.
9 was busy and quiet, well, not quiet, he was singing, but he was busy so I paid no attention as I did laundry and such. He loves horses and he loves singing. I heard 17 laughing and she told me to come "check this out." They are all in front of the computer where he listens to his iTunes full blast—notice the speaker position—it's for the best listening experience...

camping again and six chicks
We went camping again but, only for a night. We were about to pack up and go home once we got there. First we tried one spot that I thought was GREAT but, we couldn't get the trailer in—really we tried, I even ended up getting us hung up on a tree stump while I was trying to back Marc in... ya, it tore off the little black plastic thing that goes on the front of the side-step-thing and bent the side-step-thing pretty good. So, needless to say, I don't think I'll be in charge of backing anymore. Then we went further up the canyon and found our spot we have camped in a few times and really enjoy it. But, tempers were a little high because of the tree stump--not a good campsite thing from earlier and then when I went to turn the water on to start lunch we realized the pump wasn't working so I made due, all the while trying to keep spirits up, but I think it got to all of us while we ate lunch with the never-ending-skin-biting-hovering-in-hair-buzzing-face-completely-annoying-in-every-way flies from h---! Aaaaahhh!!! I think we were all on edge. We even tried a hike just to stave off our frustrated anger, but that didn't help either. We wanted to go home, but, being the frugals that we are, we stayed so that we wouldn't waste gas only being there for 2 hours—ya, we'd only been there 2 hours.
Anyway, we resorted to watching a movie in the trailer with the door closed tight until it cooled off and the flies went away. Then we had a great dutch oven dinner and of course, later, s'mores! We really did end up having a great time.
We left right after breakfast the next morning and came right home to start getting our chicken pen together for our six chickens.
Chickens are funny. We had a ball watching them after we got them in there and all our hard work getting the chicken wire and gates even through the wind and rain were well worth it. 9 and 3 were loving it and even though, 17 and 13 won't really admit it, they love them too. So cute. So now our goat has company—we'll see how six chickens and one goat get along.

3 loves to pretend like she is shooting... such a tomboy that way.
She saw 13 out shooting the BB gun so she had to join in with her plastic one.

3 wanted to follow dad on his hike—she loves hiking—she didn't make it all the way this time though, it was too steep and the weeds were really high.

Ute Stampede Rodeo and Carnival
We LOVE rodeos! They are one of our favorite activities to go to. This one is especially our favorite. It is a small town rodeo but, well done!
I had promised 9 that I would take him on the ferries wheel and it worked out great because all the ride tickets were only $1 and all rides were only one ticket! So it was cheaper than I planned.
He went on it once before the rodeo with 17, and Jman on the ferries wheel and once after the rodeo with 17, Jman, and Mr. T then, he rode the merry-go-round by himself. He was loving it! at the beginning 17 and Mr. T went on another ride that spun around and 17 was laughing the entire time at Mr. T because he was having so much fun and kept saying his eyes were gonna pop out! Tee hee!
The rodeo was awesome this year—only three bareback riders—but the rest was good. I got a few blurry pictures. We all enjoyed it—my mom and dad, Joel and his boys and my uncle Jeff came. Jessie stayed back and watched Little B and 3 and they had a girls night. 3 loved it!

Ya, this was supposed to be cool but we just got a good laugh out of it—Marc called it the Trojan Boot... Bwa haa haa!

Fourth of July Make-up
Fourth of July Bomb
Ya, our fourth of July fireworks were a bomb—not in a good way—the weather didn't let us do more than three fireworks. Oh, well, the whole day was so much fun anyway. We spent it with family for my nephew's baptism—we didn't get to stay for the confirmation though, because both 3 and 9 had a melt down. I think the amount of people squished into a small room may have had something to do with it—who knows, I am still trying to figure out this Fragile X thing day by day.
We had a Barbeque at Jessie and Joel's after and we had good food, good fun and good music. I love singing casually with my family. It is so much fun! I stole some pictures from my sister for this part.

Then we went to Marc's parents for fireworks. We were all so excited, but the weather got bad, thunder and lightening and WIND! The lightening was more impressive than our three fireworks. But, hey, being with family was great. Oh, and those weird snake things—you know the ones I am talking about—the little black pebbles that you light and they grow into long black worms.. tee hee. I totally loved those as a kid too.

Passing of a friend

My best friend from my childhood lost one of her older brothers this week—Mark Richardson. Since I practically grew up in her house when I was young I got to know her family members well, and of course as anyone who knows Mark Richardson knows: you can't help but love him.
My condolences to his family. I just wanted to give my little tribute to him here on my blog. Not much, but something.
You can check out his blog by clicking on the picture above. They will be holding a 5k August1st to raise money for his family. They need it! Even check out the site to see how you can donate to help the family.

Rain, Tents, Hikes and Mud... Oh, and STUCK!
OK, so remember the last post when I said I love camping, rain or shine? Well, I still feel that way but now I have only one stipulation with that and you will find that at the end of this post. I will tell the story as the pictures go along.
I didn't get any pictures the night we got there so I will just have to paint the picture for you with words.
We were ready to go after Marc got home from work on Thursday night to head up to our favorite spot. We were all very excited even with the prospect of rain on Friday. We planned to stay until Saturday around noon.
Jessie and Joel's family met us up there, I had given them a map to find us. It worked out well because they didn't get lost and they found us just moments after we got there. We were all excited, even though the clouds looked dark and heavy above us we all had high hopes. We started a good fire and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows. Mmm, s'mores. Anyway, the kids were all having fun. I even brought our little teeter-totter and 3 and B had a lot of fun on that for a bit. Then, it was soon time for bed. As soon as we all retired it began to rain. It rained ALL through the night not stopping to take a breath. It was a light rain, but, I am sure not too fun in the tent for Jessie and Joel. But, it was a warm night, even in our trailer so I was at least assured that they were warm... Well, upon awaking in the morning and seeing them all come out of their tent dawning their winter poofy coats I soon realized they were frozen. My heart sunk and I had to think of something to do...

We built a campfire to add to the atmosphere and of course to warm Jessie up...
And I made one of the biggest camping breakfasts I have ever made in my trailer. We had, sausage, bacon, eggs and biscuits. Mmm. It was delicious.
I thought he was cleaning off his boots to come into the trailer with us but, he just wanted to keep "the chair" clean. What would a camp trip be like if Marc wasn't in this chair sleeping at least once?
We hung out in the trailer because it was so muddy. I really wasn't in the mood to clean all the kids off that morning so we just colored and played games. Oh, boy did we have fun. We even have a radio in our trailer and we were able to tune in an FM station from the local town below. Check out our video to hear the kind of music we found and enjoy our "gettin' down!"Of course 3 was a having a bit of an issue being cooped up in the trailer for too long. Just thought you would all enjoy seeing how unpleasant she can be sometimes...
So 3 and I decided to go for a walk. Marc was already out on a long hike and I was getting tired of being cooped up in the trailer too, so we just walked and 3 led the way. As we started to come to the bend in the road we saw two cars approaching--it was Daniel and Tynelle with their kids and their friends in the car behind them. It was only noon and they had come already. We were so excited to see them, and 3 couldn't contain her excitement to have Porter and Hallie there. She loves playing with them when we're camping. I told Daniel and Tynelle how the previous night had been and asked if they still wanted to camp, they and their friends were totally up for it and decided to set up their tents.
So the adventure began...
So here is a picture of Marc showing how happy he is that Tynelle has joined the ranks of bad weather campers.
3 loved the treats. I think that next to being able to run free, eating all the junk food is her favorite part. That was our first mistake.
The roads were way to muddy to drive out on. Daniel and Tynelle's friends tires were so pack with mud a 1/3 of the way down that the back wheels weren't even spinning. And we were behind them in our 3/4 ton suburban and who-knows-how-heavy trailer pushing us from behind. It got scary. We tried to go past the two cars while the were pulled off the side of the road but the uphill climb was impossible. We were sliding all over, mud was flipping all over, the trailer was pushing and turning us toward the ravines on the side of the road and it just got scary. It was still raining and just seemed to be getting worse. We said a prayer that the rain would stop and that we would be able to get out. Literally 5 minutes after we closed the prayer the rain stopped and the clouds parted to reveal the sunshine. It was beautiful. It didn't rain at all until we left Saturday morning. Ya, we stayed the night in the middle of the road and Daniel and Tynelle and their friends set up their tents and we all braved it another night. But it didn't rain a bit and by morning the roads were dry enough to drive on and leave.
So the stipulation is not to camp in our favorite area when there is chance of rain and if it does rain, don't leave till the rain stops.
