So Brother was just playing horses and ran upstairs to inform me of the latest development.
He said "Starlight and Sugar are having foals right now."
I said a little intrigued, "Oh really."
He matter-of-factly said, "Yep, they married a good stallion and now they can have a foal."
His dad has taught him well!

Sister's Observations
Funny thing she said today:
She went out to play in the backyard on her scooter. The sun has been coming in and out of the clouds and when she went out it was sunny. I went out to be with her after a few minutes when it was overcast because the sun was back behing the clouds. She was crying saying, "Turn the lights back on!"
Later she had a little friend over to play. After about a half hour I heard them yelling at each other.
Concerned, I asked them, "Are you guys playing or are you fighting?"
Sister's friend replied, "No, we're just playing Mom and Dad."
Ha!
I even heard Sister say, "You have to get surgery!"
Her friend yelled back, "No, I don't want surgery!"
Sister, "You have to have surgery! Yes!"
I honestly don't have a clue where that came from, but it sure made me laugh!
I told them to play "nice" mom and dad.
It worked.

Rock N Park
When I was a kid, my dad loved to take us to rock shows. Ya, you read it right, rock shows.
Not like, rock band rock shows. Rocks. Like ignacious, sedementary, medamorphic. (I learned all those big words from Brother. He LOVES his science class. I know, he is so smart!) There are also gemstones, semi-prescious stones, rock beads, geodes, fossils, arrowheads—you name it—if it's a rock, it's there!
Well, last year they had it in a nearby town and I took the kids by myself. I didn't get any pictures last time, so this time I made sure to bring my camera.
Marc came with us this time and we met my dad and sister's family there. Marc's parents even ended up being there.
It was really crowded and hard to maneuver my limosine of a stroller, but the kids LOVED it. Brother even talked his Uncle Joel and Aunt Jessie into buying him a little rose quartz rock. So cute, it was 50¢ so it wasn't expensive but, to him it was priceless. Brother even got to play for a prize on the wheel of prizes and had the choice between a "dinosaur rock" and a beautiful shell necklace. He chose the dinosaur rock. (It was a piece of dinosaur bone with a plastic dinosaur glued to the top.) Tee hee! Oh, Brother!
My dad was really having a great time with his grandkids. He gets so excited when they have an interest in these kinds of things.
We went to a park down the street at the city library and had a picnic afterward and let the kids play. It was a little breezy, so a bit chilly at times, but so beautiful and sunny.

And a happy Sister—ya she had one of those days...
Sister loves to go through the flat rocks in the water. Here are the blue ones she found.
Above that is our caravan.

Sister and Brother were having a blast.
So were Marc and their cousins. It really was a great park to play in!
Grandpa is telling Brother how this was done in his day... (smile)

Blueberry Muffins with Brother
Fast forward: I was reading the "Friend" with Brother today and asked him to help me read while I was holding Baby. He proceeded to tell me, "I have Fragile X Syndrome." Like this was an excuse as to why he wouldn't read to me. I said, "So, what's your point?"
"I don't know, " he said with a HUGE smile and a small shrug, and then started to giggle.
"Do you know what Fragile X Syndrome means?" I ask.
"No," while he is still laughing and giggling.
I look him in the eye (or at the side of his head, really) and say, "It means you can do anything you set your mind to, and reading is one of them."
Now rewind to the reason I started this post:
My son made blueberry muffins from scratch by himself. I took pictures because I was so proud of him. Half way through making the muffins he walked over to the cook book, flipped to a picture, pointed to it and said, "I want to make this." It was cornbread.
The blueberry muffins are for Daddy and the cornbread is for Jessie and Joel. He told me.
Here is my little cook hard at work.
This is what started it all.
He loves asparagus fried in butter with rosemary and salt, so he wanted to help make it. This orange apron is what got him so excited about cooking. My sister said she gets them for her kids all the time at the dollar store so I thought I would give it a try. Who would have known it would turn Brother into a cook!
Now, he made these muffins all by himself. I only got out the ingredients for him--no muffin mix here--all from scratch out of the Homes and Gardens cook book. He measured, stirred, added the fresh blueberry, everything. There is even spilt milk on the floor to prove to you that I let him do this all by himself with only supervision. I seriously and so proud I could pop!
Oh, and this is him on the phone. He stopped in the middle to answer the phone. He was intently listening and then said, "No thank you. We won't be interested." And then I asked for the phone wondering who it was. It was a sales call. Good job Brother!
And here is the finished product. They were delicious! He is so proud of them and was so excited for all of us to eat them!

(stop looking at my stomach to try to figure out if it is the apron that makes my tummy look like that. I have checked it thoroughly, so to save you the trouble it is my stomach, not the apron. OK, lets move on girls...)

Doesn't the plaque behind him on the wall just sum it all up?

Ice cream maker give away!
No, not on my site, but on my friends site. She's giving away an ice cream maker! Cool! All you have to do is post! Check it out here!
Here's what I wrote:
"I wanna Turn!"
"Can I sit on it?"
That was what we yelled when we were ready to make home made ice cream. Now, we had the old fashioned ice cream maker. The one with the crank. You couldn't just plug it in. And it was a lot of work, especially as it got more frozen it was harder to turn. That's when my mom would tell us to have some one sit on top of the churn while someone cranked so that it would stay in place. I remember my youngest sister sitting on it with a pilliow ('cause it wasn't too comfy) while my dad finished the turning.
Mmmmm. Nothing like working together as a family to achieve something great!
Home made Ice cream! I scream, you scream we all scream for ice cream!

Knock, Knock
So, I get home from Brother's Parent Teacher. Baby is now happy in her swing and Brother and Sister are happy coloring at the table. I decide to go out to gather eggs and bring the goat back into her pen. As I am out in the chicken pen I hear Brother calling my name and telling me to hurry.
"OK!" I yell to him. I see he is holding something and try to hurry closer as Sister is yelling, "Mommy, hurry, come here!"
Brother shows me a bloody tooth and is proclaiming how excited he is about the tooth he just pulled out. I am laughing inside at him because he has blood all over the left cheek from pulling out his tooth and blood is pooling at the bottom of his mouth, he just doesn't realize it. I tell him how cool it is as I am coming in the house through the back door. I help him start washing up and I still have 4 eggs in my hand, and I hear Sister telling me to hurry and come.
I follow Sister's voice to the front door and come around the opening between the kitchen and front room and I see a strange 20-somethin' man leaning on the wall in front of my wide open door with Sister smiling her proud smile.
My heart sinks.
I want to deck the guy for ignoring my "Aboslutely NO Soliciting" in bright yellow and orange pasted to the right of the door. Then I want to turn to my kids to make sure they are all here, that everyone is all right, that nothing has been damaged or taken from my house. But, instead, in my stupor, I allow him to ask me if I would like my lawn arrated....
I'm thinking "Arrated (however you spell that), I'll give you and arrated head if you don't start running away from my doorway!"
But, instead I say "no thank you" and close the door.
I wanted to cry.
It scared me to think that something could have happened in the moments I was out doing chores.
It's times like these that I am reminded of my children's challenges. They have been told many times not to open the door for people, but, the just don't understand why.
My kids have opened the door many times before but, luckily it has always been friends or family. But this time I was all the way in the back yard, completely oblivious to the fact that my kids had opened the house to a complete stranger. In this day and age, I am blessed that he was not some freakazoid!!!
Funny part of this story though, after I lectured, taught, and re-iterated the importance of NEVER opening the door without mommy right next to you...
Brother informed me that he showed his tooth to the man at the door.
Tee hee!
I asked Brother if he pulled it out in front of the guy and he said that the guy at the door told him to go show his mommy.
I wonder what the guy thought of that?

Excuse me?
I checked my messages after I got home today. There were 3.
First one: My sister, Jessie asking me to come to lunch today.
Second: (in a very robotic woman's voice) "Text to land line: I miss you baby cakes. Do you have a lot of homework tonight?"
Third: (again in a very robotic woman's voice) "Text to land line: Just kidding. Embarrassing."
I was thinking, what the??!!! So, I called the person to find out who it was. It was my sister Kirsten, trying to send a text to her hubby! Ha! Ha!!!!!
